Ride the Bus

Sponsored by Sertoma and Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Shuttle buses (District 38 yellow school buses) will shuttle event attendees from parking facilities to Monument and back from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM on July 4th. Busses will run continuously between the pick-up points and the Monument destinations, except when they would conflict with the parade.

Routes: Palmer Lake Elementary School (PLES) to Beacon Light Road at Vitamin Cottage and return to PLES. East of I 25, the routes are from Lewis Palmer Middle School, Monument Park & Ride, Lewis Palmer High School, or Creekside Middle School to Beacon Light Road and Second Street and return. Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted on the buses You may bring strollers, coolers and folding lawn chairs on the bus. Your donation of $1.00 per person is appreciated to help pay the cost of operating the buses. Ride the bus and avoid the hassle.

27th Annual Fun Run

Sponsored by Palmer Lake Elementary School (PLES). The event starts at 7:30 AM at the Palmer Lake Trailhead. Race costs $20.00 ($12.00 for ages 15 and under.) Same-day registration fee is an additional $5.00. You may register online or download a mail-in registration form at July4FunRun.com. Race day registration will be available at PLES, starting at 6:00AM. Benefits go to PLES. Participants may return to the start point by Shuttle Bus (yellow school buses) sponsored by Sertoma and Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

Pancake Breakfast

Sponsored by St Peter Knights of Columbus. Held 7:00 AM through 10:00 AM at St Peter Church, 55 N. Jefferson St, Monument. Breakfast features pancakes, eggs, sausage and juice, all for $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids. Proceeds go to charity. Coffee is free.

4th of July Parade “WE THE PEOPLE”

Sponsored by Monument Hill Sertoma. Children’s parade starts at 9:30 AM at Lincoln and Jefferson Streets in Monument. Main parade starts at 10:00 AM in Downtown Monument. Free. Bring lawn chairs, hats, drinking water (no squirt guns or water cannons, please) and weather clothing if needed.

Street Fair

Sponsored by Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Set-up is by 9:00 AM; Fair is open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and includes vendors, food and craft booths.

“What a Blast” at Palmer Lake

Sponsored by the Palmer Lake Fireworks Committee. Starts at 3:00 PM and runs until dusk in Downtown Palmer Lake at the lakeside near the ball field. The event presents live music by several local bands starting at 2:00 PM and features Wild Blue Country, the USAFA traveling country band starting at 7:00 PM. Old-fashioned games will be held in the afternoon. An inflatable park and carnival rides will be available for kids at a nominal cost.

Tractor Rodeo

Sponsored by the Palmer Lake Fireworks Committee. The rodeo is a demonstration of competitive driving skills such as pushing barrels and navigating an obstacle course. Competition begins at 1:00 PM. Park at the gazebo and enjoy a free hayride to and from the event.

“Proud To Be An American”

The Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts is sponsoring a patriotic themed art show that includes a logo contest. This is a juried event opening on July 4th, in conjunction with the other Tri-Lakes festivities. An integral part of this show is a contest to select the artwork for the 2009 4th of July celebration. Contact the Center for entry info; the entry deadline is June 27. Special hours for 4th of July are from noon to 4:00 PM. The gallery is at 304 Highway 105 in Palmer Lake.

Pre 4th of July Event

Barn Dance

Hosted by Si and Dorothy Sibell. This event will be held at Si’s barn on Front Street in Monument from 8:00 PM – Midnight on Thursday, July 3rd. The featured band is Jack Daddy Band. There is admission fee of $10.00 per person or $15.00 per couple and all proceeds go to charities. Beer, wine, and sodas will be available (ID required for alcohol).

Post 4th of July Events

Olde Town Fair

Sponsored by the Palmer Lake Fireworks Committee. Held from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM lakeside at the ball field in Palmer Lake on Saturday, July 5th and Sunday, July 6th. A full measure of old fashioned fun benefits the Palmer Lake fireworks. Olde Town Fair includes family games, kids fun land by Airnastics (nominal cost), Mount Herman 4H Club project displays and information, and live music.

Tractor Pull

Sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Tractor Puller’s Association, this event also features an antique farm equipment display. The farm tractor competition starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 5th. Tractors from 1952 and earlier pull weighted sleighs over a measured course; greatest distance determines the winner. Park free at the gazebo and take a free hayride to and from the event.
